Name: Laura Corbin
Age: 39

Location: Tulsa, OK

Give us your quick bio: Physician assistant struggling with premature ovarian failure. I am passionate to help guide others through the land mines of infertility.

What is your personal experience with Infertility?
Premature ovarian failure/insufficiency with 4.5 years of IVF and Donor Egg IVF.

At your lowest point, how did Infertility impact you?

Infertility brought me out of my arrogance that I was in control. At my lowest, I realized I truly lost my biological connection to anyone and I wasn’t going to prove anyone wrong. I was completely stripped.

What was the turning point in your mindset? What helped you find happiness outside of Infertility?

After our miscarriage with our 2nd donor, I acknowledged the reality that we might not have children and that I had a choice: to define myself by that or start working towards the life I wanted despite my fertility status. I chose to focus on relationships and building my practice.

What actions did you take to help you heal?

I began to look at what I liked: what would I be doing if this wasn’t a part of my life? I was choreographing, painting, going to sporting events, rescuing dogs. We continued treatment but I made it more of a hobby rather than the full time job it was before.

What would you tell other people facing an Infertility diagnosis?

Everyone is going to have something: infertility, diabetes, cancer, etc. You just happen to have something that strikes young. Being as that is, you have time to mold your life into something you may not have expected but love just the same.

How do you views align with the InfertileAF Mission?

I believe in owning your infertility as the badge of resiliency that it is for the sake of empowering others.
